1 Thessalonians 1:4
“For we know, brothers loved by God, that He has chosen you.”2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”
TL;DR:
Self-esteem is fragile and fleeting, but Christ-esteem is eternal. In Jesus, you are a new creation—chosen, loved, and defined by His righteousness, not your shortcomings.
Yesterday, a dear friend and I were talking about the difference between self-esteem and Christ-esteem.
When we look at ourselves, we often see only our shortcomings. We remember the times we’ve fallen, and it’s easy to define ourselves by those failures. But the truth is this: we are not defined by our sins—we are defined by the righteousness of Jesus Christ.
Through Him, our sins are removed “as far as the east is from the west” and remembered no more. That’s what it means to live in Christ-esteem.
Self-esteem can waver with circumstances—it’s fragile, dependent on how well we think we’re doing. But Christ-esteem is deep, steady, and eternal. It reminds us that we are chosen by God, loved beyond measure, and made new in Christ.
When we live in Christ-esteem, we walk with our heads lifted high. We have strength and courage to face battles with dignity, respect, honor, and joy.
So today, live in Christ-esteem. Remember this truth: You are loved. You are chosen. You are a new creation in Him.
