Matthew 10:12–14
“As you enter a home, give it your greeting. If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your peace return to you. If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town.”
TL;DR:
Not everyone will receive you. Release them to God, shake off the dust, and protect your peace.
Jesus gave clear instruction: offer peace freely—but don’t force it.
There will be times when you try to help someone and they refuse it. You pray. You encourage. You speak truth gently. Yet nothing changes. That does not mean you failed.
You are responsible for obedience, not outcomes.
When someone rejects your words or your care, you do not need to carry their resistance. You do not need to internalize their refusal. Let your peace return to you.
Shaking the dust off your feet is not bitterness. It is trust.
It is saying, “God, this is in Your hands now.”
No one is beyond God’s help. But you are not the Holy Spirit. You cannot force transformation. You can pray. You can love. You can release.
When you hold on to frustration, your peace drains. When you entrust people to God, your peace returns.
Today, if you are carrying someone else’s rejection or resistance, let it go. Shake off the dust. Pray for them. Then walk forward in peace.
God has a bigger plan than you can see. He is God.
