Ephesians 6:5-7
“Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. 6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. 7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men.”
TL;DR:
Are you serving God with sincerity or just going through the motions? True obedience comes from a heart fully surrendered. Let go of the things He’s asking you to release, and choose to serve Him with wholehearted devotion and intentional faith.
Serve wholeheartedly. Not begrudgingly. Not out of obligation. But with sincere hearts—as if we’re serving Jesus directly. Because, honestly, we are.
That’s what Ephesians 6 reminds us. But let’s be real: I’m often guilty of serving with a half-hearted attitude. I can grumble. I can resist. I can try to hold on to my own plans while technically following His.
But I’ve learned something powerful:
I have sincerity of heart when I intentionally set my heart on God’s will.
There have been many times my feelings didn’t align with God’s desires for me. One of the biggest? I wanted to be a “normal drinker.” That was my wish for years. But it wasn’t God’s plan. He wanted something far better for me—freedom in sobriety.
And you know what? I now love my sober lifestyle. I’m grateful for it. But to embrace it fully, I had to let go of the fantasy. I had to surrender my will for His.
Is there something God is asking you to let go of?
We can’t serve two masters. We can’t cling to the old life and live out the new one with joy.
Today, I choose to serve Him wholeheartedly. Not begrudgingly. Not with hesitation. But with sincerity of heart.
Lord, help each of us want what You want for us. Help us serve with joy and wholehearted faith.
