Jeremiah 17:7-8 “But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of draught and never fails to bear fruit.” …17:14. “Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are The One I praise.”

Have you ever had a pain that just won’t leave?
Some things in life are hard to understand and impossible to control. Physical pain, emotional wounds, circumstances that drag on longer than we think we can bear — it’s real, and it’s hard. There’s no sugarcoating that.
But these verses from Jeremiah have carried me through some of my deepest pain. They speak directly to what it feels like to be in the middle of something difficult, and they point to the only true source of hope and healing through faith.
The image in Jeremiah 17 is so vivid — a tree planted by the water, roots reaching toward the stream, staying green even in drought, never failing to bear fruit. That’s what trusting God in hard times looks like. Not that the heat stops coming, but that you are rooted deeply enough to survive it. To stay alive. To keep going.
And then verse 14 — that honest, raw cry: “Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed.” There is something so freeing about that kind of prayer for healing and strength. It’s not complicated. It’s not performance. It’s just surrender to the One who actually has the power to heal.
When I trust God through pain and uncertainty, something shifts. I can’t always explain it, and I definitely can’t always control what’s happening around me. But I can survive it — and more than survive. I can carry hope in the middle of it.
If you’re in a hard season right now, you are not alone. Finding hope in God’s promises is not about pretending everything is fine. It’s about planting your roots somewhere that drought cannot reach.
