Proverbs 18:10
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”
TL;DR:
When you call on the name of Jesus, you are not whispering into the dark—you are running into a strong tower of safety, peace, and eternal security.
There is power in the name of Jesus.
Sometimes prayer doesn’t need to be long or eloquent. Sometimes it is one word:
“Jesus.”
There have been nights when sleep would not come. Thoughts raced. Worries whispered. In those moments, clearing everything from your mind except His name changes the atmosphere. Repeating His name becomes a resting place. Peace follows.
“Those who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Years ago, during a medical emergency when my uterus ruptured, everything moved quickly. Voices shouted, “Get the clergy!” As they rushed me toward surgery, I didn’t pray a polished prayer. I simply cried out, “Jesus, I need Your help.”
Immediately I was surrounded by warmth and a white light. A peace flooded me that truly surpassed understanding. I felt certain I was going home to Heaven. Then I heard, “You can’t go yet…”
I woke up in recovery—disappointed not to be in Heaven, but completely assured of something greater: because of Jesus, Heaven is secure. My eternity is settled.
That is the power in His name.
When you call on Jesus, you are not calling on an idea. You are calling on your refuge. Your fortress. Your strong tower.
No matter what trial you face today—fear, illness, uncertainty, temptation—run to His name. Say it. Whisper it. Cry it out.
The name of the Lord is a strong tower.
Run to Him and be safe.
