Hebrews 4:7
“Therefore God again set a certain day, calling it Today, when a long time later He spoke through David, as it was said before: Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.”
tl;dr
God speaks in the present moment. When His voice is heard and trusted, there is peace. When His guidance is ignored, anxiety often follows.
Today.
What a powerful word.
God did not say yesterday or tomorrow. He said, “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.”
When reading God’s Word, there are times when a particular verse penetrates deeply into my heart. As I sit with it, pray about it, and rest in what God is showing me, I find peace.
The challenge comes when I clearly sense His direction but choose my own way instead.
Even when I know what God is calling me to do, I sometimes want a different answer. I want my plan, my timing, or my solution. Whenever I go down that road, anxiety usually follows. The peace I felt while reading His Word begins to fade because I am resisting what I already know in my heart.
God’s ways lead to peace.
That does not mean His ways are always easy. Sometimes they require patience. Sometimes they require surrender. Sometimes they require letting go of something I desperately want to hold onto. Yet when I trust Him and follow His leading, there is rest for my soul.
Today, I pray that each of us can truly hear God’s voice and soften our hearts to His direction. May there be a willingness to trust His wisdom above our own understanding.
His way brings peace.
His way brings rest.
His way is always worth following.
I hope this helps in the decisions and desires being faced today.
Rest in Him.
