Trusting God in the Waiting: Finding Peace in His Perfect Plan

Lamentations 3:22-24:
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.'”

Lamentations 3:55-57:
“I called on your name, O Lord, from the depths of the pit. You heard my plea: ‘Do not close your ears to my cry for relief.’ You came near when I called you, and you said, ‘Do not fear.'”

Jeremiah 29:11:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

TL;DR: Waiting is often uncomfortable, but it can be a time of peace when we trust God’s perfect plan. Instead of striving to control outcomes, rest in His love, knowing His mercies are new every morning and His plans are for our good.

Waiting can be one of the hardest seasons in life. It’s that space where things aren’t happening according to our plans, hopes, or dreams. Disappointments creep in, and if we’re not careful, they can overwhelm us. But Lamentations 3:22-24 reminds us of a powerful truth: God’s compassions never fail, and His mercies are new every morning.

I’ve struggled with unmet expectations, wondering why life doesn’t go the way I envision. My mind races to find ways to “fix” things, but those maneuvers only seem to dig the pit deeper. In those moments, I realize that my true peace doesn’t come from my plans working out—it comes from trusting God’s plan and waiting patiently for it to unfold.

Waiting isn’t about passivity; it’s about surrender. It’s choosing to say, “Lord, I trust You, even though I don’t understand.” This trust transforms the waiting into a place of peace, because we’re no longer striving or fearing—we’re resting in His faithfulness.

Perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18), and His love is perfect. When we feel fear creeping in during the waiting, we can call on His name, as the writer of Lamentations 3:55-57 did. God hears us and reassures us: “Do not fear.”

God’s plans for us are good. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that He has plans to prosper us and give us hope and a future. Even when life seems off-course, His perfect timing and purposes are unfolding.

Today, let’s be inspired to TRUST in His plan, even in the waiting. Let’s surrender our fears, stop striving for control, and find peace in His love. His mercies are new every morning, and His faithfulness is great.

May the waiting be a time of trust, peace, and the hope that comes from resting in His perfect love!
