Where Are You Getting Your Counsel?

Hebrews 10:10
“And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”

tl;dr
God’s Word provides the wisdom and direction needed for life. When decisions are guided by Him instead of personal desires, peace and clarity follow.

We have been made holy through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ!

I remember when I was first saved. I thought, “Yeah! I’ll never sin again.” That lasted for about a moment.

In my human existence, I still make poor choices. Usually those choices happen when I act impulsively or when I seek counsel from people before seeking God.

It is so easy to ask others for advice. Sometimes that is wise. But I have noticed something about myself. When I ask God, read His Word, and honestly listen for His direction, the answer is often very clear.

The problem is that sometimes it is not the answer I want to hear.

So what do I do? I go looking for counsel from people who will give me the answer I want instead.

Crazy, huh?

Yet how often do we all do that? We know what God is saying, but we keep searching until we find someone who agrees with what we already wanted to do.

That is why this verse brings me such comfort.

“And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”

When I realize I have wandered off course, I do not have to stay there. I do not have to live in shame or condemnation. I can remember who I am in Christ, seek Him again, and get back on track.

His Word is still true.

His grace is still sufficient.

His direction is still available.

Today, before seeking everyone else’s opinion, seek Him first. Open His Word. Listen carefully. Trust His direction, even when it is not the answer you were hoping for.

Forward in Christ!
