TL;DR:
When Jesus makes you new, don’t return to the old. Stop looking for life in the places that once held you captive. You are a new creation—walk in the light, not the grave.
Why do you look for the living among the dead?
When I quit drinking, I had to intentionally seek new friendships—people who could lift me up, not pull me back into old habits. One of my dearest friends once told me, “You can have friends who aren’t in the program, but your best friends should be.”
That wisdom has stayed with me. The people in our closest circle should encourage growth, accountability, and righteousness. They should help us stay clean—spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
If you’ve been washed white as snow, why go play in the mud and expect to stay clean?
The world often lures us back toward old behaviors, but Jesus calls us forward—to life, not death. To renewal, not regret.
When we’ve been made new in Christ, we don’t belong in our old graves anymore. We belong in His light.
Today, take a look at your relationships, habits, and thought patterns.
Are they life-giving—or are they pulling you back toward the dead things you’ve left behind?
Walk in newness of life. Surround yourself with people who help you stay alive in Christ.
