Proverbs 2:6 “For the Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.”
TL;DR: Wisdom, knowledge, and understanding are not things we manufacture on our own. When we put God front and center and seek Him earnestly, they become a natural byproduct of that relationship.
Seek wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. That is the invitation, and it is a good one.
Here is a simple way to think about what each one means. Biblical wisdom is applied knowledge. Knowledge of God’s Word is knowing Scripture itself. And spiritual understanding is a heartfelt desire to apply God’s Word in your everyday life, because you know deep down that it will serve you well.
Three distinct things, but they work together. You cannot really have one without the others growing alongside it.
Today, let’s try our best to seek God like silver. When we make Him front and center in our lives, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding follow naturally. They are not something we have to force or manufacture. They are the fruit of putting God first in daily life and staying close to Him.
That is a pretty good return on investment.
