He Writes It on Our Hearts: Keep Getting Up With Jesus

Jeremiah 31:33–34
“This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people… For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

TL;DR: God’s law is written on our hearts. The closer we walk with Him, the more aware we are of our sin—but we are never disqualified. He continually forgives and invites us back into relationship. Don’t stay down. Keep getting up with Jesus.

These verses from Jeremiah hit me with power and comfort.

God says, “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts.”
We don’t need someone else to constantly tell us what’s right or wrong—we already know, because He’s written it inside of us.

That knowing—that internal compass—is something I’ve come to recognize more and more as I walk closely with the Lord.

But here’s the tension:
The closer I get to Him, the more aware I become of my sin.
Not in a shame-filled way, but in a deeply honest way. I can’t pretend it’s “no big deal” when I intentionally choose something that goes against what He’s written on my heart.

And when I do?
When I knowingly walk into sin?
My heart begins to harden.

Not because God leaves me—He never does.
But because I distance myself from Him emotionally and spiritually. I start feeling like I can’t draw close. And yet, these verses remind me of something amazing:

“I will forgive their wickedness and remember their sins no more.”

That’s our God.
Constantly inviting us back.
Constantly reminding us of His love.
Constantly offering a fresh start—even if we’ve stumbled a thousand times before.

This is the beauty of walking with Jesus.
We’re not disqualified by our weakness.
We’re invited to rise again in His righteousness.

So today, if you feel the weight of a hard heart, if you’ve been walking in a way that you know isn’t right—stop, turn, and remember the covenant.
He has written His truth inside you. He will forgive.
And He will walk with you as you rise again.
