Luke 6:35–36
“But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.”
TL;DR:
It’s easy to be kind to people who treat you well. But Jesus calls you to be kind even to those who don’t deserve it—because that’s exactly what He does for you.
Be kind—even to those who are jerks.
That’s not easy, is it? It’s simple to be kind to people who are kind to you, but when someone is rude, angry, or downright mean, kindness feels impossible. Yet, Jesus doesn’t call us to easy love—He calls us to holy love.
Luke 6 reminds us that God Himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. He shows mercy to those who don’t deserve it—including you and me.
When someone lashes out or treats you harshly, remember:
hurting people hurt others.
Often, their cruelty comes from deep pain.
When you respond with mercy instead of malice, you become a living reflection of Christ’s heart. You show the kind of love that changes things—sometimes even softening the hardest hearts.
Don’t give people what they deserve. Give them what Jesus gives you—grace, patience, and mercy.
You may never get kindness back from them, but your reward is far greater: peace, freedom, and the joy of knowing you are walking in the footsteps of your merciful Savior.
Today, rise up and be His healing force in this hurting world. Love like Jesus.
