Psalm 139:23 “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 See if there is any offense way in me, and lead me in the way of everlasting.”
TL;DR: Anxiety is not always the enemy. Sometimes God uses an unsettled spirit to get your attention. If something in your life is consistently triggering anxious thoughts, it may be time to reevaluate whether it truly belongs there.
Do you have anxious thoughts? Pay attention to those. Seriously.
If your reaction to something is anxiety, it is worth stopping to evaluate whether that person, project, or commitment should actually be in your life. Not everything that fills your schedule or your heart is meant to be there, and your anxiety might be the clearest signal you have.
God gives us an unsettled spirit as a way of recognizing things that are not of Him. That inner restlessness is not a flaw in your faith. It is often a form of spiritual discernment, a quiet nudge helping you see what does not align with His plan for you.
When you feel that persistent, low-grade anxiety around a certain relationship, responsibility, or situation, that is a good moment to bring it before God. Ask Him to search your heart the way Psalm 139 describes. Ask whether this thing is pulling you toward Him or away from Him. Ask whether it reflects peace of mind through faith or something else entirely.
Managing anxiety from a faith perspective does not always mean pushing through. Sometimes it means letting go. Sometimes the most faithful thing you can do is step back from what is draining you and trust that God has something better aligned with the way of everlasting He promises.
Lord, see if there is any offense way in us, and lead us to the way of everlasting.
