Rise Up: Don’t Justify What God Is Convicting

Romans 8:8
“Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.”

Psalm 27:14
“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

TL;DR:
When you justify sin, your heart hardens. When you respond to conviction, you grow. Don’t settle—rise up.

Romans 8:8 is short. Direct. Sobering.

When you are controlled by your sinful nature, you cannot please God.

That feels harsh—until you realize it is loving clarity.

Maybe you’ve been there: quietly justifying something you know is not aligned with God’s will. The world says it’s fine. Culture normalizes it. You tell yourself, “It’s just this one thing.”

But sin is rarely “just one thing.” It is a slippery slope.

The real danger is not stumbling—it’s hardening. It’s losing conviction. It’s convincing yourself that compromise is obedience.

Thank God for conviction.

Conviction is not condemnation. It is protection. It is evidence that your heart is still tender toward Him.

Moses chose not to enjoy the passing pleasures of Pharaoh’s house. He chose obedience over comfort. That choice cost him something—but it aligned him with God’s greater purpose.

You will fail. Everyone does. Holiness is not perfection—it is direction.

The key is this:
Don’t justify what God is correcting.
Don’t silence what the Spirit is convicting.
Don’t pretend ongoing compromise is harmless.

Resist the behaviors that so easily ensnare you.
Wait for the Lord.
Be strong.
Take heart.

Rise up—not in your own strength, but in surrender.

When you feel conviction, respond. That is faith in action.

Today, don’t harden your heart.
Rise up and choose holiness.
