Isaiah 57:20-21
“But the wicked are like the tossing sea, which cannot rest, whose waves cast up mire and mud. ‘There is no peace,’ says my God, ‘for the wicked.’”John 8:36
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”James 4:7-8
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and He will come near to you.”
tl;dr
Unrepentant sin steals peace, but Jesus offers freedom, grace, and the power to turn away from what enslaves.
It is hard to think of ourselves as wicked. Most of us prefer to identify as “good” people. But when actively walking in sin, justifying it, and refusing to turn away, those actions are wicked.
That word feels harsh. But sometimes truth is.
When walking in unrepentant sin, there is restlessness. Inner turmoil. Rationalization. A lack of peace. Scripture compares it to a tossing sea, constantly stirring up mire and mud. What a vivid picture of what sin does inside the heart.
Sin enslaves. It slowly turns people into versions of themselves they do not want to become.
The good news is Jesus frees.
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
What incredible hope.
Every person falls prey to different sins at different times in life. Pride. Bitterness. Addiction. Gossip. Lust. Control. Fear. Self-righteousness. The list is long because the human condition is real.
But sin does not have to win.
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and He will come near to you.”
That is the path forward. Pray. Turn away. Turn toward God.
There is no need to stay stuck in cycles of defeat, shame, or self-justification. Jesus already finished the work on the cross. Grace is available. Mercy is available. Freedom is available.
Walk in the righteousness of Christ, not the wickedness of self.
Be inspired today to choose repentance, peace, grace, and freedom through the powerful gift of Jesus Christ.
